Sorry, don't want to upset any of you - I'll leave you to enjoy your minority sport, just don't expect the rest of the world to be interested.

Finally-free - It's not our fault that you north Americans have such a short attention span that you can only watch sports which have a very high scoring rate!
Football is a game that is fascinating in it's tactical diversity and the way that it galvanises whole nations - here in England so many houses and hundreds of thousands of peoples cars are proudly flying the Cross of St George flag, the flag of England.
Our economy will be boosted by Billions of pounds if we do well and beer sales have already reached an all time record!
Still, everyone to their own eh? -

I love all sport and it's nice to hear that you are very excited about your team. I have heard of the Stanley Cup but I'm afraid that Hockey, basketball and American football don't register on the radar in the rest of the world.
Anyway, enjoy your game - hope you win! -

by restrangled indear all,.
just wanted to say hello and tell you how much i have appreciated all your postings as a "lurker"...sorry.. short history, grew up in the 70's as a 3rd generation jw, elders daughter, dad left in the 80's, df'd at 16 and the decision was reversed after 90 days.
left when i was 18. i am now 48 and have suddenly been shunned by my mother even though i have supported her emotionally all these years never critisizing the wt, listening patiently to witnessing stories etc.

Hello restrangled.
Sounds like you have some very interesting stories to tell - we look forward to that.

'Tonites BIG GAME???????'
Who on earth is interested in Hockey?
Don't you realise that rather than be interested in some minority sport played and watched by just a few countries, you should be following The Football (or is that 'sooccer')World Cup - a competition in which 198 countries of the world entered and the whole world is watching!!!!
By the way the big match in the tournament so far will be England v Sweden tomorrow night but there will be many more even bigger matches to come. -

Do you have any kind of obsession?
by JH ini'm obsessed with new cars.
i'd trade a $50,000 car for a brand new $40,000 one the year after, and trade it again for a $30,000 brand new one the year later, and trade it again for a $20,000 one year after that.
as long as i get a new one every year or so, i love the feeling, even if it's less equipped.

I'm obsessed with beating my sales targets every year, every month, every week, every day. I get in a bad mood if I don't but a good mood if I do. I usually am in a good mood - thank God!
I'm also obsessed with what new car the company is going to buy for me every three years - it's always nearly the one I wanted, but the next model down.
I'm obsessed with working out where to go on holiday next and trying to ensure there is a nice 5 star hotel there.
I think I'm a bit self obsessed aren't I?
Wish i said that I'm obsessed with the well being of others now!
Mind you I really am obsessed with trying to make my wife and my kids happy - so I'm not all bad!!! -

anyone here from Hemelhampsted
by smifffy in.
hi all,.
are there any brothers or sisters from hemelhampsted ??
-
south african beef
Hi Smiffy.
This forum did apparently start off as a JW site but gradually the ex JW's took over as they obviously had more interesting things to say!
Seriously, you know that as a JW you are told in no uncertain terms that you should not look at anything to do with JW's on the internet except the official Watchtower site.
What are they scared of, that's what you have to ask yourself?
When I was a JW I found it very strange that we would like everyone to read the Watchtower and Awake maagazines but we would not accept anyone else's literature in return.
Anyway, welcome to this discussion board, I hope you stay and read things with an open mind and put your own views accross. -

English Soccer. Will England win the world cup?
by MARTINLEYSHON inthe simple answer is no.

Obvious jealousy from your Irish friend me thinks - they are not even participating are they?
Despite my alias I am English through and through and I would be delighted if we win - after the first match we still have a lot to improve on but you never know, I think we will get close. Brazil on the tv in 15 minutes so must watch them. -

Panic attacks and Jehovahs Witness!
by Gill inhow many of you had panic attacks when you were a jw and when leaving?
i know of many jw women and a few men who suffered badly with panic attacks.
since recently having another spate of panic attacks i suddenly realised that i had been having them all my life.

While I was a Witto I went through a bad period of having panic attacks.
I was one of those that if I heard someone else had a panic attack or similar that they should 'pull themselves together' and stop making it up! When I got them myself my perspective changed.
I must admit that my panic attacks started when I was 'getting romantically involved with someone I shouldn't have'. I was mostly worried about my parents reaction to me leaving the beloved 'troof', and I was 40 at the time!
I still sometimes get the attacks though at a greatly reduced rate - they happened mostly while I was driving, this was a problem as I do loads of driving for my job.
Once, when I was reading the Watchtower on the platform I had a massive panic attack and had to go and sit down!
